Traditional brickwork and beam project

With this remodel we removed the old stove, surround and hearth. We then opened up the fireplace to the original builders opening. This was as big as we could go without major structural work. The recess was fire boarded and the Natural Stone hearth was laid.

Once the hearth had set we could then proceed with the brick piers and brick slips. The brick slips where used to create an inner layer around the opening.

The Avalon 4 wood burning stove fitted well and would provide ample heat for the space.

To finish the remodel the Light Oak beam was fitted across the top of the piers.
