This 1800’s cottage had a small fireplace with a 70’s brick surround. As this cottage was built in the 1800’s we were confident the original fireplace would be quite large. The original fireplace had been made smaller over the years which is typical of most period properties when central heating in homes became popular.
We excavated the fireplace to reveal the original fireplace and original oak beam. A pamment hearth was laid and a Stovax Stockton 8 wood burner installed.
